Garda Vetting Changes in 2026

THE OWNER/MANAGER OF EACH AIRE EQUESTRIAN CENTRE MUST NOW VERIFY THE IDENTITY DOCUMENTS OF THE APPLICANT.  

A  LIST OF CENTRE OWNER NAMES WHO WILL ACT AS ID VERIFIERS HAS BEEN SENT TO HORSE SPORT IRELAND.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD ANOTHER NAME TO THE LIST, PLEASE FORWARD NAME AND PERSONAL  EMAIL TO AIRE,  THERE IS NO LIMIT ON THE NUMBER OF I/D VERIFIERS FROM AIRE.

THE VERIFIER IS (ONLY) ASKED TO VERIFY ID DOCUMENTS .  THE APPLICANT MUST BE IN FRONT OF THEM WITH A COPY OF PASSPORT OR DRIVING LICENCE.

 

What is required of the Applicant:

The applicant will apply for GV to H.S.I. via the link below, the applicant must print off the 4 pages received in return from H.S.I.

They must meet with an ID Verifier with their identifying documents i.e. Passport or Driving Licence.

The 4 pages when filled out in full,  should be posted to Horse Sport Ireland.

A wet signature is now required on all applications; this can no longer be done online.

 

What is required of a Verifier:

The validator must physically see the documents to confirm the vetting subject matches the documents.

The following details must be recorded in the designated section of the NVB1form:

Document type and reference number (e.g. Passport number)

The date of validation must be recorded.

The validator’s name, position, and organization must be clearly recorded and their name printed and signed

 

AIRE MEMBERS CAN ALSO USE AN ID VERIFIER FROM ANOTHER AFFILIATE LIST.

A LIST OF VERIFIERS WILL BE AVAILABLE FROM H.S.I WHEN A NEW APPLICATION IS MADE.
