Young Breeder Training

More information is available here: https://www.teagasc.ie/rural-economy/rural-development/equine/young-breeders-programme/

We have just returned from another solid performance by ISH Studbook Team at the World Championships (in Denmark).  The two year cycle of the programme begins again next week.   We are visiting with the Army Equitation School on Tuesday July 16th 11.30am to 1.30pm.   The Barracks is close to Heuston station, public transport may also be an option for attendees.

We have visited with the Equitation School a number of times and this sessions also serves as a nice intro for new participants, as although we discuss conformation and athleticism traits, we do so in a relaxed way without heavy emphasis on score sheets. It is also a chance to chat with the personnel at the Barracks also about their own careers/ career opportunities there; the training system at the Barracks; and what lies ahead for the horses (immediately and hopeful longer term plans).

A key objective of the programme is to develop skills in assessing conformation and athleticism traits of sport horses. This is as important for riders / producers as it is for breeders.
