QQI Level 6 Students from Grennan, Teagasc Kildalton & North Connaught Colleges approved to teach at AIRE Approved Riding Centres

Students from Grennan College, Teagasc Kildalton College and North Connaught College with a QQI Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Horsemanship are permitted to instruct in AIRE Approved Riding Centres. 

The training received by students in the above colleges provides a depth of knowledge and skills, suitable for employment in the Riding School.  Courses aim to provide students with practical experience, riding, teaching, and training horses.  Stable and Feed Management modules are included in the courses.  Students are encouraged to add to their qualifications by taking British Horse Society or Horse Sport Ireland Coaching/Riding Qualifications.

Learners are trained to teach a variety of lessons to clients in a Riding School environment.   They are competent teaching children and adults from beginners to riders preparing for low level competitions.  The courses are predominantly carried out in an equine setting.  Level 6 students’ school the horses and assist with the training of Level 5 students both in riding lessons and lectures.  Some of the students have the opportunity to visit other equine farms for work experience.  A range of modules are covered throughout QQI Level 5 & 6.  Courses may vary slightly in each college.
